We have a fun and easy way to support the Broad Street PTO -- no extra effort required! 🎉

On April 13 from 4:00–8:00 PM, our PTO is partnering with Panera on the Carlisle Pike for a fundraiser night. Simply order dinner and 25% of net sales will be donated back to the PTO!

If you’re ordering online or through the app, be sure to use the code FUND4U so your purchase counts. If you’re dining in, please show the flyer (either a digital copy or the paper copy that was sent home with your child) when you order.

It’s a great excuse to skip cooking, enjoy a meal together, and support our students and teachers at the same time. Feel free to share with friends and family!

🍽️ COMMUNITY DINNER // Broad Street Elementary School once again opened its doors for its annual Community Dinner, continuing a tradition that began in 2017. What started as a simple idea has grown into a meaningful evening centered on connection, conversation, and a shared meal. This year’s gathering brought together another incredible crowd of families and community members.

👏 We are grateful to our community partners, including 1st United Methodist Church, Mechanicsburg Brethren in Christ Church, St. Mark’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, and St. Paul’s United Church of Christ, for their continued generosity and support. We also greatly appreciate our Broad Street Girls on the Run team and the many volunteers from Broad Street, across MASD, our administrative offices, our social workers, and the greater community, along with our very own Wildcat.

💙 SCHOOL SOCIAL WORK WEEK // This week, we recognize the incredible impact of our school social workers and the vital role they play in supporting students and families. They help navigate challenges, connect families with resources, and partner with staff to ensure students have what they need to be successful in school. Their work often happens quietly and behind the scenes — but it strengthens our entire Wildcat community.

❄️ TWO-HOUR DELAY // Tomorrow, Monday, February 23, 2026, Mechanicsburg Area School District will operate on a two-hour delay schedule. We will continue to monitor conditions overnight and will reach back out if weather or road conditions necessitate any further changes. Thank you and stay safe, Wildcats.

🧦HEY MR. BIGHAM, YOU KNOCKED OUR SOCKS OFF // Sometimes the show must go on — and at Broad Street Elementary, Principal Paul Bigham made sure it did.

When a technical hiccup interrupted the playing of the national anthem during morning announcements, Mr. Bigham didn’t miss a beat. Stepping up to the mic, he finished the song a cappella, bringing the school community together in a powerful and memorable way.

It’s moments like these — stepping forward, supporting one another, and turning the unexpected into something special — that make our Wildcat community shine. Mr. Bigham, #YouKnockedOurSocksOff.

BEEP, BEEP // Winter weather means extra cleanup—and this week, that included Broad Street Elementary School Principal Paul Bigham taking a turn on the Riding Auto Scrubber to help clear salt from the floors before students arrived. A great reminder that in MASD, we’re a team—always ready to step in (and up… and behind the wheel 🛞) when help is needed.

The PTO will also be collecting optional donations to support the MASD Food Bank. If you’re able, approved donation items include:
• Peanut Butter & Jelly (plastic containers only)
• Noodle meals (Ramen, Cup of Noodles, etc.)
• Microwavable Mac & Cheese
• Chef Boyardee
• Oatmeal
• Pop-Tarts
• Individual snack bags (Goldfish, pretzels, chips, etc.)

We hope to see you there for an afternoon of skating, smiles, and community support! 💙🛼

❄️ TWO-HOUR DELAY, 1/29/26 and 1/30/26 // Mechanicsburg Area School District will operate on a two-hour delay schedule on Thursday, January 29, and Friday, January 30, 2026. Based on several factors—including cold temperatures, the need to navigate snow piles, and the benefits of increased daylight—a delay was the best decision for our students.

Thank you for your patience as we work our way back to a normal school schedule.

❄️➡️📚 BACK AT IT // After two snow days (+ two hours), our Wildcats were all smiles and happy to be back together—learning, laughing, and filling our halls with energy once again. Welcome back, Wildcats. We missed you. 💜

❄️💪 A HUGE THANK YOU TO OUR MAINTENANCE & FACILITIES CREWS // Through heavy snowfall and challenging temperatures, our dedicated maintenance and facilities teams have been hard at work clearing parking lots, roads, and sidewalks to ensure our buildings and campuses are safe and ready for the return of our students and staff. They’ll be back at it again today for another round of winter weather cleanup.

Your long hours, teamwork, and commitment do not go unnoticed. We are incredibly grateful for all you do behind the scenes to keep our Wildcat community moving, no matter the weather. THANK YOU. 💜

❄️ CLOSED // All Mechanicsburg Area School District schools will be CLOSED tomorrow, Tuesday, January 27, 2026. This will be a traditional snow day with no makeup day needed.

Our Facilities Department and local municipalities did an amazing job today, as they worked tirelessly to clear roads, sidewalks, and parking lots throughout the district. Unfortunately, there are still a few trouble spots out there that we'll hopefully see cleared up tomorrow.

🧦HEY TARA, YOU KNOCKED OUR SOCKS OFF // Shoutout to Tara Bradley, Administrative Assistant to the Principal at Broad Street, for going above and beyond in the most thoughtful way. Mrs. Bradley is always looking for ways to support not only her own building, but colleagues across the district. Most recently, she created a calendar and cycle day tracking tool that has been a game changer for administrative assistants districtwide.

Her organization skills are always right on schedule — and this time, they truly Knocked Our Socks Off. Thank you, Tara, for making everyone’s day just a little easier.

🚓💙 LAW ENFORCEMENT APPRECIATION DAY // Today (and every day!), we’re grateful for the strong partnerships we share with law enforcement across our community. Their presence in our schools goes beyond safety—it’s about connection, trust, and meaningful relationships with our students and staff.

A special thank you to Officer Mark, our District Resource Officer, whose steady presence and genuine care help our Wildcats feel supported and safe. From morning fist bumps and catch on the playground to lunchtime check-ins and hallway conversations, these moments matter.

Thank you to all of our law enforcement partners for being an important part of the Wildcat community. Today we celebrate you. Every day we appreciate you.

🎒 YOUR WILDCAT JOURNEY BEGINS HERE // Families with a child who will be age 5 on or before September 1, 2026, are invited to register now for full-day kindergarten at Mechanicsburg Area School District. PLEASE SHARE with any MASD families who have an eligible child for kindergarten in the 2026-2027 school year!

To participate in The Wildcat Expedition — our special kindergarten orientation held later this spring at Kindergarten Academy — registration must be completed by April 1, 2026. During The Wildcat Expedition, families are introduced to Kindergarten Academy while incoming Wildcats enjoy age-appropriate activities and screenings designed just for them — a meaningful first step into their school experience.
