🧦 YOU KNOCKED OUR SOCKS OFF, JOYCE! // At the corner of West Simpson and South Broad, Mechanicsburg Police Department’s Joyce Phillips is more than a superstar crossing guard—she’s a bright spot in every Wildcat’s morning. From her cheerful wave and ear-to-ear grin to her signature puppy treats and candy stash 🍬, Joyce brings safety, care, and connection to everyone who crosses her path.

Thank you, Joyce, for leading with heart, spreading positivity, and helping our Wildcats start each day with a smile. 💜 (Our Wildcats are appreciative of the trusty umbrella you carry on rainy days, too! ☔)

🎨 DOT DAY SPARKED OUR CREATIVITY // Yesterday, our Wildcats across the district joined in the global celebration of Dot Day, inspired by Peter H. Reynolds’ book The Dot. The day reminds us to be brave, try new things, and make our own mark on the world. 💪

Students and staff wore their dots proudly, filled our hallways with hand-drawn designs, and celebrated creativity alongside their art teachers—including some who brought their own special Dot-themed style to the day.

📸 Special thanks to art teacher Rachel Connell and staff across the district for sharing many of these great photos.

🎉 🧦 SOCKS OFF TO MR. WILLIAMS // We’re proud to share that Dr. Bitz recently delivered our very first You Knocked Our Socks Off award to DAN WILLIAMS, first-grade teacher at Broad Street Elementary!

Outside of school, Mr. Williams noticed a MASH student in need and didn’t hesitate to step in—staying by their side until help arrived. That student turned out to be one of his former first graders, a powerful reminder that the connections our teachers build last far beyond the classroom. Congratulations, Mr. Williams! 💛

🧦 What is You Knocked Our Socks Off? It’s a new way to celebrate MASD staff who go above and beyond in big and small ways. When we see or hear about these moments where staff "knocked our socks off," Dr. Bitz will surprise the honoree with a fun pair of Wildcat socks as a token of thanks.

📚 LEARNING TAKES MANY FORMS // Learning isn’t just one thing—it’s a mix of moments happening all around us. Sometimes it looks like quiet focus on independent work. Other times it’s sitting shoulder-to-shoulder with a teacher, asking questions and exploring new ideas. And often, it’s the energy of teamwork, where students collaborate, share perspectives, and build solutions together.

No matter the setting, each moment adds up to growth, confidence, and discovery. That’s the heart of learning. Keep it up, Wildcats! 🐾

🌳 As July comes to a close, we would be remiss if we didn't recognize Park and Recreation Month, and celebrate not only the incredible team that brings our programs and events to life all year long, but also our amazing staff who bring the magic to our Playground Program and Summer Adventure Camp.

From leading games and crafts to organizing youth sports, special events, and community programs, both our counselors and recreation team go above and beyond to make every moment meaningful. Their energy, kindness, and dedication create spaces where fun, learning, and connection thrive — all year long.

👏 Help us give a big THANK YOU to the heart of these programs — our amazing recreation staff! We couldn’t do it without you.
